Bringing in the Big Guns: Introducing The Ride-On Scrubber Dryer from Numatic

Scrubber dryers are powerful machines that the retail, medical, industrial and leisure sectors all use widely. And when it comes to covering a lot of ground, there is a solution that ticks the boxes both on power, and convenience. The ride-on scrubber dryer.

Floor scrubber-dryers are well renowned for boosting productivity, maintaining a high standard of cleaning, and leaving floors impeccably clean, yet perfectly dry and ready to walk on.

Scrubber dryers feature a fresh water tank, deep cleaning discs and a dryer with a vacuum that sucks dirty water into a separate tank. Their ability to clean a large surface area far more quickly than wet mopping is championed, as is the fact that you only need a single pass to both clean and dry the area.

Ride-on scrubber dryers are ideal for large areas where operator fatigue can be a problem. If a walk-behind machine is being used for expansive locations, then operators can quickly tire, which extends the amount of time required for a clean. The ride-on model removes this issue, keeping cleaning time as short as possible, and more comfortable for the operator.

Larger areas such as loading bays, multi-storey car parks and logistics hubs are well-suited for ride-on scrubber dryers.

At Anderson Trade, we offer two options in the ride-on scrubber-dryer range. These are the Numatic TTV678C, and the Numatic CRG8055.

Both are packed with features designed to make life easier, but each has its own individual benefits. Read on to discover which may suit your needs better.

The Numatic CRG8055 80 Litre Ride-On Scrubber Dryer

This is a compact, affordable ride-on scrubber dryer that packs in plenty of practical features.

The CRG8055 is comparable to many walk-behind scrubber dryers, which means operators can now sit rather than walk. Nothing is lost on manoeuvrability or ability to get into awkward spaces with this model compared to a walk-behind, so this could prove the ideal solution that serves a dual purpose.

The machine features an anti-tip system that prevents it from tipping during cornering manoeuvres, whilst the Flexifill system allows for straightforward filling and emptying.

Cordless runtime comes in at 120 minutes, and the machine is fully controllable in terms of speed too. Safety-wise, there’s an emergency stop button, a horn, a power-off key and a hazard warning light. Water capacity is a generous 80 litres, whilst brush speed goes at 150rpm, and the scrub width is 550mm.

The Numatic TTV678G 120 Litre Ride-On Scrubber Dryer

This comfortable, driver-friendly ride-on scrubber dryer provides an excellent turning radius which allows the operator to get in and out of awkward areas where other comparable machines just can’t reach.

One of the most exciting features of this machine has to be the TwinTec Vario three-in-one design. It delivers the perfect balance between common sense engineering, and innovative, functional technology. Imagine a single machine that can be set to three different working widths all at the flick of a switch and with no tools required… it’s all possible with the Numatic TTV678G. Go from wide to fine to narrow in just seconds.

Combine the unique three-up arrangement of scrubbing heads with a selection of brushes and pads, and you have the ultimate in customised cleaning for pretty much any surface type.

Other features include easy dosing pre-sets for accurate dosing every time; total control over cleaning and brush speed, water flow and chemical dosing; simple operator control courtesy of a soft-touch dashboard; easy maintenance and straightforward access to batteries and fuses for servicing and brush changes, and a plug-and-go onboard charger.

The small turning radius allows excellent cleaning, even in tight spaces, and safety features such as an emergency stop button, power-off removable key, horn button and hazard warning light as well as the built-in reversing alarm are all welcome additions.

The Ultimate Guide to DustCare Fine Dust Vacuum Cleaners

The DustCare range of industrial cleaning machines from Numatic has been designed to address the needs of building industry applications concerned with the production of fine dust.

Cutting, drilling, polishing and grinding are all construction applications that produce fine dust which, if exposure is not properly managed, can get deep into the lungs and cause a host of diseases, some of them fatal.

The use of machines specifically designed to manage fine dust is therefore vital, and the Numatic DustCare range offers precisely that.

Two technologies have introduced exceptional upgrades to the Numatic DustCare range in terms of both dust collection and machine performance. AirFlo and MicroFlo are both incorporated into the NDS570 model.

An optional kit (NH5) is available which allows the machine to be connected directly to the dust collection hood on whatever hand tool is being used. The kit provides ‘a tool for every job’, including a threaded hose; a rubber brush with stiff bristles; two aluminium extension tubes and an aluminium tube bend together with a dry brush nozzle.

MicroFlo Dust Collection

The MicroFlo multistage dust collection bags are exceptionally efficient, able to reach standards that were in the past just not possible. The giant sized bags allow for much easier and safer emptying of the collected dust whilst at the same time permitting clean operation for longer. Achieving both of these features was not possible with previous bag-less designs featuring complex filters that became regularly blocked.

The advanced filtration of the Numatic DustCare range has been designed to an advanced specification in order to meet industry requirements. The NDD570A and NDS570 models both feature optional AutoFlo automatic operation.

Numatic DustCare NDD570A

The duplex twin motor model has been specifically designed for use where there is a particularly high level of dust generation. All models are ideal for managing the everyday clean-up of dust-producing applications, as well as handling after-builders’ cleans.

Numatic DustCare NDS570

Automatic hand tool operation

Both machines come with a power outlet pre-fitted to the powerhead. When a hand tool is connected to this supply, the vacuum cleaner and the tool operation become fully synchronised. As soon as the tool is powered down, the vacuum cleaner also switches off automatically, and vice versa.

This feature is particularly useful when machines and workstations are not located close together, for example on ladders or scaffolding. The fully automatic operation offers exceptional convenience.

Dealing with Hazardous Dusts: A Guide to H-Class Vacuum Cleaners

Certain dusts are hazardous to health if inhaled. These include asbestos, carcinogens, finely divided silica, active pharmaceutical products and soot. In environments where these dusts are present and need to be cleared, it is necessary to use highly specialist equipment to do so.

H-class vacuum cleaners are purposely designed for use with hazardous dusts. They are built to safely and effectively pick up toxic dust and debris in a safe manner.

H-class vacuum cleaners are equipped with three stages of filtration. The first is a sealed, disposable paper bag. The second is a high efficiency cloth filter, and the third is a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) cartridge which is contained in a sturdy module. All hazardous dust vacuum cleaners are tested in line with British Standard BS5415 to ensure they achieve a filtration efficiency of at least 99.97 per cent.

Numatic manufactures a range of specialist hazardous dust vacuum cleaners in a variety of capacities up to 40 litres, and with a choice of Twinflo single 1200 Watt or double 2400 Watt motors built into an all-steel, low-noise power head. All models are available in both 240 volt and 110 volt options and feature a HEPA filter with a primary pre-filter and microflo dust bags to meet the required filtration efficiency.

The Numatic HZ200 and HZ250 are the smaller models in the range. These have a 10 litre steel container.

In the small to medium range, featuring a 15 litre polypropylene container, are the Numatic HZ350 and HZ370.

The Numatic HZD570 is a medium sized model offering a 23 litre super tough structofoam container. For higher capacity needs, the Numatic HZ750 single motor and HZD750 twin motor models offer a 35 litre steel container.

For even greater capacity, the Numatic HZ900 single motor and HZD900 twin motor feature a huge 40 litre super tough structofoam container.

All models come with an accessory kit including a 2.5 metre hose, small and large dusting brushes, a steel gulper, a crevice tool, 10 disposable paper bags and 20 polythene sacks.

3 Reasons Why Professional Cleaners Love Cylinder Vacuums

For the professional cleaner, there is always the dilemma of whether to opt for an upright vacuum cleaner, or a cylinder model. Last month we looked at the benefits of the upright, so now, in the name of helping you make an informed and balanced decision, it is time to turn our attention to the benefits of the cylinder vacuum cleaner.

Flexibility

If you have awkward locations to cover like stairs and under desks, or unusual shaped spaces, the cylinder vacuum will usually be the favourite option of the professional cleaner.

With the dust collector separated from the head of the vacuum via a hose, you instantly get lots more flexibility when working with areas that are a challenge to access, basically because all you need to move is the hose, rather than the entire machine. There’s also the advantage of a larger cleaning radius compared to that of the upright.

Mobility

If you need to move across large areas then the lighter weight and compact design of the cylinder vacuum will usually suit you best. Accessories are often stored onboard, making the machine a nicely portable, all-in-one solution. The compact size also makes the machines a lot easier to store and transport from one contract to another.

Versatility

Cylinder cleaners offer all-round cleaning features. Relying on powerful suction rather than motorised brushes, these machines have highly efficient motors. By adding simple accessories, they suddenly offer a whole new realm of versatility, making them suitable for a vast range of applications including flood management and industrial cleaning.

For this reason, cylinders are also a good choice when you have a range of flooring types to tackle such as carpets, rugs and hard floors.

So there we have the key advantages of investing in a cylinder vacuum cleaner. But which model to go for?

Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner Buyer’s Guide

Numatic and Truvox are two of the most renowned brands of cylinder vacuum cleaner widely used in the commercial cleaning sector.

In the Truvox cylinder range, the VTVe Tub Vac offers exceptional performance and an A energy rating. It’s a dry vac only and perfect for educational establishments, offices and care homes. The machine is light and easy to transport from one contract to the next. For detail cleaning and hard to reach areas there are optional accessories. Another plus point is that the VTVe is compatible with all Numatic Henry tools and bags.

The Numatic family is possibly one of the most well-known and widely recognised cylinder vacuum cleaner ranges in professional circles. We introduced you to Henry, Hetty, James, Charles and George in a previous post. These low-noise, high-power machines offer a range of benefits such as energy saving features; enhanced filtration; a wide range of accessories; ECO-technology and, courtesy of Charles and George, a selection of options including wet, dry, scrubbing and hard floor drying capabilities. Henry comes in both mains and battery models.

Numatic also produces a range of slightly less endearingly-named but just as powerful and advantageous cylinder cleaners, including the ProSave Vacuum Cleaner which is fitted with a professional TwinFlo motor and NST sound reduction. There are three models available ranging in size and power.

The Nuvac is another model in the Numatic range. It comes with a range of floor vacuuming tools, wands and hoses for the ultimate clean. This lightweight model is particularly good where there are allergy sufferers thanks to its high quality filtration system.

At Anderson trade we offer a free onsite demonstration on all our professional vacuum cleaners so you can be certain the model you choose suits your particular needs. We also stock a vast range of parts and spares for all leading brands of commercial vacuum cleaners. For more information or to arrange a free demo, please get in touch.

Vacuum Cleaners and Energy Efficiency

Vacuum cleaners and energy efficiency has been the subject of much discussion of late and, whilst we are still within the EU, it is something we are going to have to live with, for the time being at least.

The EU Eco-design Directive and the Energy Labelling Framework Directive govern the energy efficiency and energy labelling of all vacuum cleaners made in or shipped into the UK. The directives apply only to new upright and cylinder vacuums and do not cover wet and dry vacuums, robot vacuums or rechargeable vacuums.

Under the requirements of the Eco-design directive, all vacuums must be less than 1600 watts in power, must consume no more than 62 kWh of energy per year and must carry a dust removal efficiency grading.

The energy labelling requirement means that all vacuums will be rated from A to G based on their energy efficiency and cleaning performance on hard floors and carpets, and on their dust emissions. This is a similar system to that used for washing machines and fridge freezers.

The Energy Efficiency Label

An A-rated vacuum cleaner is the most energy efficient machine, whereas machines with a G-rating will be the least efficient. The annual energy consumption of the vacuum cleaner is also shown on the label. The lower the number, the more energy efficiency the cleaner offers. Remember that the figure should not be above 62 kWh per year.

There are separate grades for dust pick-up that apply to carpet and hard flooring. An A-rating for this element will mean the cleaner is highly effective. If you see anything below a C-rating, it really should be a no-go.

Dust re-emission concerns the amount of dust put back into the atmosphere via the vacuum’s exhaust following cleaning. This is a very important consideration where allergies are concerned, so if you are looking to ensure your working environment is as allergen-free as possible, you will need to go for an A-grade in this respect. The exhaust air will depend upon the quality and type of filter fitted to the vacuum cleaner, and how well the cleaner is sealed will also have an effect. Don’t go for anything below a C-grade but do try to seek out A and B ratings.

The noise level of the vacuum cleaner is also graded on the energy efficiency label. The lower the decibels, the quieter the cleaner. In a commercial setting, this is particularly important where cleaning takes place during working hours.

Energy Efficient Vacuum Cleaners: Buyer’s Guide

If you are looking to remain compliant when choosing a commercial vacuum cleaner, the Numatic range will serve you well. Henry for example is A-rated for energy efficiency. Its dust pick-up for carpets and hard floors is grade C, as is its dust re-emission grade.

Hetty carries the same grading as Henry as does James, whose annual
energy consumption is way below the amount allowable under the directive

Hetty carries the same grading as Henry as does James, whose annual energy consumption is way below the amount allowable under the directive at just 25.2 kWh per year.

Lindhaus upright machines for professional use are all rated Class A for energy efficiency. They are also very low noise level.

Lindhaus machines are A-rated for energy efficiency

Sebo also remodelled its designs to take in lower energy consumption in line with the EU directive and its range now combines energy efficiency with ergonomic and user-friendly design, exceptional performance and low noise levels.

The Advantages of Wet and Dry Vacuum Cleaners

Wet and dry vacuum cleaners are ideal for commercial and industrial use. Sucking up both dirt and liquid, these machines act as a replacement for traditional mopping whilst working on the same principle as a regular vacuum cleaner.

For premises where large volumes of dirt accumulate on a regular basis, and where there are regular spillages, the wet and dry vacuum cleaner really is the only solution. There are numerous advantages to investing in one of these machines. Here are a few of them.

Time Saving

The powerful suction collects all waste in one hit and in doing so prevents repeat cleaning. What’s more, the large volume storage capacity in these machines makes it unnecessary to keep stopping to empty out and, when the time does come, certain models offer the convenience of a dump hose on the bottom which speeds the process up significantly.

Versatility

Not only do wet and dry vacuum cleaners do what they say on the tin, they also offer a variety of other uses, many of which are down to the fact that some of these machines have both a traditional suck-up function, plus a blower function. Uses include unblocking sinks and pipes, tackling floods, removing snow from walkways, cleaning carpets and removing leaves and other debris from external areas. Some cleaners in this category can also be used to buff hardwood floors using a special buffer brush attachment and the size of objects that the vacuum can handle is larger than regular dry-use only models, making them beneficial for industrial settings.

Convenience

Premises with heavy footfall cannot afford to pose hazards for too long. So if there is a spillage that needs to be quickly cleared, a wet and dry vacuum is the perfect answer. Much faster and more thorough than the mop and bucket method, these machines will have the floor cleaned and dried in just a few minutes, even if the spillage is in a tricky to locate area, such as under a fridge. Also the way these cleaners work prevents mess from spreading, which is a whole lot safer and of course, faster.

Choice

There are numerous models in the wet and dry commercial vacuum cleaner range, meaning there is something to suit a variety of needs. Numatic offers a selection of options including two transparent models fitted with a foldable handle allowing easy movement together with compact storage. These have a powerful two stage motor, giant filters and disposable paper dust bags for dry use plus a safety float valve for wet use. Built to order by the manufacturer, these particular models make very cost effective choices.

The Numatic Transparent Wet & Dry Vacuum Cleaner

Numatic also offers a larger model with a 40 litre dry and 23 litre wet capacity as well as a unique multipurpose tipper system that allows for easy emptying into floor drains or WCs. Then there’s the even bigger 70 litre wet capacity Numatic which is designed for flood damage, flat roofing, salvage work and fire services that need the continuous collection and discharge of bulk liquid. Plus there’s the stainless steel option which is ideal for the healthcare, medical, pharmaceutical sectors.

Trade Buyer’s Guide: Scrubber Dryers

Scrubber dryers are ideal for cleaning small areas quickly. They optimise productivity and hygiene, and offer true one-pass cleaning. Ideal for the retail, medical and leisure sectors as well as numerous other commercial and industrial settings, scrubber dryers make a worthwhile long term investment. But where to start when choosing the right model?

Key Questions for the Scrubber Dryer Buyer to Consider

Your decision making process when buying a commercial scrubber dryer will involve asking yourself the following questions:

1.   What is the size of the area that needs to be cleaned?
2.   Is access limited or are there any particularly narrow walkways to be cleaned?
3.   Are there plenty of power points available, or is connecting to power an issue?
4.   Is flexibility required where transporting the cleaner is concerned?
5.   What is the available budget?

Which Type of Scrubber Dryer?

There is a variety of types of scrubber dryer with further options within each category. The type you go for will very much depend upon the individual requirements of your premises and of course your cleaning needs.

Multi Wash Scrubber Dryers

Multi wash scrubber dryers wash, mop, scrub and dry both hard and soft floor coverings in a single pass. The Truvox Multiwash Scrubber Dryer is a popular model in this category. Offering high speed productivity and excellent manoeuvrability as well as the ability to tackle even the most challenging floors such as non-slip safety flooring, low pile carpets, escalators and travelators and entrance mats, it also has the advantage of being quiet in operation. Ideal for environments where walkways need to be washed and dried swiftly, the Truvox Multiwash leaves floors clean and ready to walk on in minutes. A range of cleaning widths is available as is a choice of brushes covering regular maintenance cleaning and intensive scrubbing.

Truvox Multiwash

Mains Operated Scrubber Dryers – Compact

If there are tricky to access areas that need to be cleaned within your property, then a compact mains operated model should prove the right choice. The Numatic TT1535 Twintec Scrubber Dryer is one such example. Specifically designed to be compact and simple to manoeuvre, the fact it is the smallest in the Numatic Twintec range has no bearing on its power and performance. This cleaner has large transit wheels which make it an easy task to move from location to location, together with a power brush backed by a 400 watt motor to guarantee exceptional deep cleaning performance. And that’s not all: there are also twin water pickup nozzles powered by a 1000 watt vacuum motor which allow multi-directional operation, something that is essential for the cleaning of narrow aisles and walkways.

Numatic Twintec Compact Scrubber Dryer

Mains Operated Scrubber Dryers – Heavy Duty

When serious power and volume are important, you’ll need to look at the larger styles. If access to power points is not an issue, go for a mains operated model. The Numatic TT6650s is a large single tank scrubber dryer with exceptional power transmission. There’s a 1200 watt brush motor backed by a high performance 1200 watt twinflo vacuum system, all mounted on a sturdy stainless steel chassis. The dirty water tank offers a 60 litre capacity and the large, heavy duty scrubbing head sports a patented design that allows for easy brush changing, transit and storage.

Numatic Twintex Heavy Duty Scrubber Dryer

Ride On Scrubber Dryers

Where there is a particularly expansive area to clean, a ride-on scrubber dryer is a worthwhile investment, saving time and offering a greater degree of safety for the operator. The Numatic Twintec Vario Ride-On Scrubber Dryer offers the flexibility of being able to clean at three different widths with a mere flick of a switch. It’s a programmable model allowing a series of pre-sets that allow a variety of settings to be programmed into the memory. Cleaning speed, water flow and chemical mix are all at the operator’s control.

Numatic Twintec Ride-On Scrubber Dryer

Battery Operated Scrubber Dryers

Where access to power points is an issue, or simply where flexibility to allow movement up and down staircases, escalators or in lifts is essential, battery operated scrubber dryers provide the ideal solution. There are numerous models to choose from offering a range of power levels and features. Numatic offers a wide choice in its Twintec range, including amongst others a 17” model, a 21” model and, the largest of the range, the traction model which features a 20 watt traction power drive system with variable forward speeds plus a reverse which assists in reducing operator fatigue.

Numatic Battery Operated Scrubber Dryer

The iMop Scrubber Dryer is another model worthy of mention. This is a full size scrubber dryer offering the flexibility of a flat mop. Effortless in use, the degree of flexibility is extensive, allowing the user to clean in and around tight and difficult to access areas. Cordless and weighing in at just 18 Kgs, it is the lightest cleaning tool within its category. According to iMop, average labour savings return the initial investment within the first 150 hours of operation.

Meet the Family: Henry, Hetty & Co. – Pleased to Make Your Acquaintance!

Everyone knows ‘Henry’, the jolly looking vacuum cleaner which has since its creation in 1981 grown to iconic proportions with over 7 million of them having been sold. But what is behind the massive popularity of this much loved vacuum cleaner? Here we take a closer look at Henry and also introduce you to his equally admired siblings.

Henry was something of a unique character when UK-based Numatic, founded in 1969 and now one of the world’s most respected vacuum cleaner brands, introduced him onto the cleaning scene. With his big charming eyes, his beaming smile and of course his long nose, it was no surprise that within very little time, everyone would want one.

But good looks are not all that Henry has to offer and, thanks to regular reviews on the part of Numatic, this vacuum cleaner has been through numerous upgrades and gone from strength to strength in both the domestic and commercial vacuum cleaner markets.

Henry & Henry Xtra

Henry is a powerful chap and HenryXtra even more so with his twinflo 2 stage motor. Both standard and Xtra models allow you to switch between high and low power, so saving energy when the vacuuming job is a light one.

Both are also quiet in nature, only producing around 72 dB. There’s a whopping 10 metre cable including a convenient rewind system, so no worries about reach in larger properties. There’s also a huge 9 litre bag capacity and thanks to the Tritex filter system and giant Microflo dust bags, allergy sufferers are taken care of in a big way. Henry Xtra features a 3-stage microfresh filter system too which enhances filtration to 98% and also includes a charcoal membrane for effective odour control, making him perfect for pet owners.

Henry is well equipped with a variety of accessories for totally flexible cleaning of a range of surfaces and the Xtra model also comes with an airo power brush which effortlessly scoops up everything in its path, including stubborn pet hairs.

Henry Xtra

So, that’s Henry. But what about the rest of the family? Acknowledgement must of course be made of sister Hetty and brothers James, Charles and George!

Hetty

Henry’s siblings have made the Numatic family complete and able to offer a solution for a range of circumstances and uses. Pretty in pink Hetty, short for Henrietta, has been designed with built-in ECO technology meaning not only does she deliver unbeatable cleaning, she’s also going to save you money on energy costs too.

Hetty

James

James is known as the handy member of the family, with his practical cable tidy, much loved by commercial cleaners who need to shift around with the cleaner throughout expansive properties. The caddy is also useful for storing other accessories such as polish and dusters, etc.

James

Charles & George

Charles and George are the wet surface experts and accommodating George deals with carpet cleaning and regular dry vacuuming too. Charles offers a choice of three hose lengths and two voltage options. George is the perfect ‘all-in-one’ commercial vacuum cleaner offering as many as five different cleaning options including wet, dry, scrubbing and drying hard floors, deep cleaning of carpets and upholstery and even sink unblocking courtesy of a powerful 1200W two stage motor and powerflo pump system.
